マスコットキャラクター「ぴょろりん」 / Mascot "Pyororin"

今回はtodoroのマスコットキャラクター「ぴょろりん」を紹介します。
一体こいつは何なのかというと、元々は自分が高校生の時に1つ上の姉が作ってくれた「ぬいぐるみ」です。ある日、突然渡されました。笑
作業のほとんどは裁縫の得意な母親が済ませたようにも思いますが、姉は美術系の学校に進学するほど美術が好きだったので、そういうアート的な創造物として生み出したのだと思います。全て姉のオリジナルデザインです。
くたっとしたうさぎさんで、自分で言うのもあれですが、すごく可愛いフォルムをしています。特に好きなのは足ですね。まるっとしていて、それでいてメリハリのある曲線美だと思います。つぶらな瞳や、手の親指だけがちゃんと独立しているところも可愛いです。
以前自分が学生時代にロックバンド「軣(とどろ)」を組んでいたことを書きましたが、ずっとそのバンドのマスコットにしていました。知る人ぞ知る、ヤフーが提供していた無料ウェブサイト提供サービス「ジオシティーズ」というものがあり、todorotoodoro(軣と踊ろ)というバンド紹介サイトを作っていたのですが、そこに画像をアップしていました。当時の名前は「とどろうさぎ」でした。低解像度でツブツブですが当時の画像だけ残っています。もちろんペイントで描かれています。笑
ちなみにサイトではイラストが隠しボタンになっていて、クリックするとサイトの色が全てネガポジ反転して、とどろうさぎの自己紹介ページに切り替わる仕様でした。
ライブの時にギターに付けられたり、首輪のようにパンクスーツのような鋲のついたリストバンドを首に巻かれたりしながら、バンドの解散とともに、ひっそりとマスコットとしての仕事を終えました。
そこから20年の月日が流れ、娘も生まれました。娘が家に眠っていた「とどろうさぎ」を見つけ、他のぬいぐるみと一緒に遊ぶ日々。ある日、勝手に「ぴょろりん」と名付けてしまいました。自分としては抵抗して「とどろうさぎ」というんだよ、と説明しましたが、父の力は弱し。そのうち自分も含めた家族みんなが「ぴょろりん」と呼び始め、その名前は完全に市民権を得ました。
もう布もボロボロで一部は透けてメッシュのようになっていますが、妻が補修しながら、娘の部屋で娘が悪い夢を見ないように一緒に眠っています。娘もタオルを小さな布団代わりにして可愛がってくれています。
家族からは「おぴょろ」と呼ばれることも多いです。
こうして小さなピンクのうさぎはロックバンド「軣」のマスコットから、メタルブランド「todoro」のマスコットに転職し、第二の人生を歩み始めました。
あまりにも可愛いので、イラストの姿で新しい活躍の場を作ってやることにしました。イラストでは、自分の好きなショッキングピンクで描かれることが多いです。
目がまん丸で、口が無いのですが、それが逆に表情を豊かにさせるような、こちらに想像させるような気がしています。
家の中で転がっていると、たまたますごく意味のあるようなポーズになっている時があり、思わず笑ってしまいます。
ぴょろりん関連のプロダクトとしては、LINEスタンプが最初のお披露目の場になる予定です。たくさんのイラストを使用する予定なので、是非見守っていただきたいです。
いつか、違う色や他のキャラクターなんかも登場するかもしれません。

This time we will introduce Todoro's mascot "Pyororin".
What exactly is this thing? It is originally a "stuffed toy'' that my sister, one year older than me, made for me when I was in high school. One day, it was suddenly given to me. lol
This is a soft-looking rabbit. If I do say so myself, but it has a really cute shape. I especially like the feet. I think it's round and yet has beautiful curves. His round eyes and the fact that only his thumbs are separate are also cute.
I previously wrote that when I was a student, I was part of a rock band called Todoro(軣). And I had always used him as the band's mascot. There used to be a free website service provided by Yahoo called "Geocities", and I was creating a band introduction site called "Todorotoodoro (means Let's dancing with Todoro)". I was uploading the image there. At that time, his name was "Todoro Usagi (means rabbit)". Although it is low resolution and grainy, only the images from that time remain. Of course it is drawn in paint. lol
By the way, the illustration was a hidden button on the site, and when you clicked it, all the colors on the site were inverted from positive to negative, and the page was switched to Todoro Usagi's self-introduction page.
He was being attached to my guitar during live performances and wearing a studded wristband that resembled a punk suit's collar around his neck. When the band disbanded, he quietly ended his work as a mascot.
Twenty years have passed since then, and my daughter was born. My daughter finds a sleeping rabbit at home and spends her days playing with the other stuffed animals. One day, she decided to name it "Pyororin'' without permission. I resisted and explained to her that his name was "Todoro Usagi'', but my strength as a father was weak. Before long, everyone in my family, including myself, started calling him "Pyororin", and the name gained full citizenship.
The fabric is so worn out that some of it is see-through and mesh-like, but my wife repairs him. He sleeps in my daughter's room with her so she doesn't have bad dreams. My daughter also loves him by using a towel as a small futon.
My family often calls him "Opyoro".
This is how the little pink rabbit started a second life, changing from being the mascot of the rock band "軣'' to becoming the mascot of the metal brand "Todoro".
Since he's so cute, I decided to create a new place for him to use his illustrations. In my illustrations, I am often drawn in shocking pink, which is my favorite color.
His eyes are round and he has no mouth, but I feel like this gives him a richer expression and makes me imagine his better.
When he's rolling around the house, there are times when he happens to be in a pose that seems very meaningful, and I can't help but laugh.
LINE stamps will be the first Pyororin-related products to be unveiled. I plan to use a lot of illustrations, so please keep an eye on him.
Someday, different colors and other characters may appear.
